The Gowanus Oktoberfest is our end of season event highlights accomplishments over the past year. Fortunately, this continues to be a celebratory event, documenting the return of wildlife and record-breaking numbers of paddlers on the waterway. The day will be filled with activity including...

  • The Greater New York Smudge Cleanse at 1:30pm - Come see the world's largest sage smudge stick dissipate negative energy at Gowanus Canal.
  • Oyster Demonstration at 2pm - An oyster demonstration showing that life in the canal is naturally cleaning the water
  • Gowanus History and Development discussion at 3pm - discover the Canal's past, present and future followed by Q+A's
  • Boat Race with Prizes at 4pm - Sign Up Starts at 11am, Race at 4pm sharp - Some canoes are provided but SPACE IS LIMITED Life jackets must be worn at all times
  • Food and Beverages all day - pizza and other beverages will be availble for a small donation
  • Canoe Rides with the Dredgers all day - Launch a Canoe with a friend after a quick instruction on how to canoe
