Heart of Gowanus DVD |

The Gowanus Dredgers proudly offer a new educational DVD by the Greenpoint Video Project featuring the documentary Heart of Gowanus - an educational film about the continued efforts to clean the Gowanus Canal. The DVD includes two bonus films: Restoration of Newtown Creek and Splash, which showcases the waterfront museum's programs in Red Hook.
Over the course of five years, cinematographer Keith Rodan of The Greenpoint Video Project, with the support of the Gowanus Dredgers Canoe Club, has filmed the rebirth of the Gowanus Canal following the reactivation of the flushing pump. The 30-minute documentary features the spring cleaning festival co-sponsored with The Urban Divers and is offered to local schools for screening as part of our lecture series. Funding is needed to reproduce copies of this film and to develop a full documentary to highlight the years of effort needed to restore a contaminated waterfront.
To raise awareness (and funds), we encourage you to purchase the DVD through our on-line store with a credit card or contact us for cash and check orders.
